The Top 3 Classic Must-Have Nintendo Wii Games

Nintendo Wii GamesHave you ever been talking to someone about movies and heard “Oh man, how can you not have seen it?” when a classic movie comes up? Real classic movies are the kind of movie that are so good that everyone should see it at least once. Video games are the same way. With each console or handheld, a particular crop of games rises up above the rest: the true masterpieces and classics that define a console or a genre of game. Some of these are timeless classics like Super Mario Bros. For the NES and others are groundbreaking innovations that do something no other game has before like the first Pokemon Red and Blue games. Here’s a list of the truly classic games that every Wii owner should have in their library:

1. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess – In my personal opinion (sorry Ocarina of Time fans) Twilight Princess is where the series hits its peak. Link has to set out on an epic adventure across light and shadow versions of Hyrule to fight an ancient evil that’s sweeping the land in darkness. This installation in the series has a sort of gritty realism that weighs on you as you play, you can really feel how important it is that Link save the world while you play.

2. Super Mario Galaxy – Galaxy takes the old Mario formula that we’ve come to know and love and throws it a curveball. Classic free roaming Mario open world gameplay thrown into the middle of space. Mario has tons of new worlds to explore, bad guys to beat, and challenges to conquer as he chases Bowser through space to rescue the princess and the castle. Galaxy adds so much to the classic Mario formula that there’s hours and hours of replay value built straight into the main story (even more if you like 100% completion on games).

3. Wii Sports – Wii Sports came bundled with the launch consoles, but if you bought any of the newer models, you really missed out! Wii Sports was a fun game that let you try your hand at boxing, bowling, tennis, baseball and golf. It let you really get a feel for all of the features of the Wii and was surprisingly fun for being a piece of software that was packaged with the console. It’s a little tougher to find, but just looking at the hours I’ve spent perfecting my bowling throws alone, the game is 110% worth picking up if you have the chance.

Those are the top three titles that every Wii owner should have in there cabinet, but there are dozens upon dozens of amazing games for the Wii available today. If there’s any of these three games that you don’t have on your shelf, do yourself a huge favor. Go out and pick them up today from your local game retailer (or online store) and I can guarantee that you’ll be glad you picked up these amazing classic games.
